Canadian Beauty Review exists because most beauty coverage available to Canadian readers is shaped, directly or indirectly, by the companies whose products are being written about. We wanted to try something different: a publication that buys what it tests, discloses how it tests, and has no financial reason to prefer one outcome over another.

Every product we review is purchased at retail, using our own funds, without identifying ourselves as press. We do not accept free samples, gifted products, or early access from manufacturers or their representatives. We do not run paid placements, sponsored reviews, or affiliate arrangements that could influence a ranking. If a product performs poorly, we say so. If it performs well, we say that too, and we try to explain why.

Our testing combines structured, repeated use over time with measurements and observations appropriate to the category, whether that is wear time, transfer, longevity, or simple durability. We are candid about the limits of what a small consumer test can demonstrate, and we avoid overstating our findings.

How Findings Are Reviewed

Before a review is published, our findings are checked by a small standing group whose backgrounds include dermatology, biochemistry with a focus on topical formulation and skin delivery, and clinical research into skin aging and cosmetic treatments. This group does not choose which products we test or how we score them. Its role is narrower and more useful: to confirm that our methods are reasonable, that our language matches what the testing actually showed, and that we have not claimed more than the evidence supports. Members are not named individually, and the group does not endorse specific products or brands.

Corrections and Suggestions

We get things wrong sometimes, and we would rather hear about it than not. If you believe a review contains an error, or if there is a category or product type you think deserves attention, our editorial team welcomes the note. Please use the contact page to reach us directly, we read every message and reply personally when a response is warranted.
